International MIC tournaments - Mediterranean International Cup of football and basketball, that will be held for Easter in the counties of Girona, have been presented this Tuesday at the Auditorium of Girona. Àlex Granell, player of Girona Futbol Club, and Laia Palau, basketball player of the Spar Citylift Girona, attended the event. The football competition will arrive at the 19th edition and the basketball one in the 3rd, adding between the two tournaments the dispute of nearly 1,100 matches in five days, a figure similar to the one of last year.  The MICBasketball will be played from April 18th  to 21st...

MICBasketball'19, from 18th to 21st of April, will be played in 8 different venues. Lloret de Mar (accommodation venue), Girona, Maçanet, Santa Cristina d'Aro, Cassà de la Selva, Caldes de Malavella, Sils and Vidreres are the locations chosen to host the 3rd edition. All of them repeat their experience from last year.  We are glad to have their facilities, modern and well located along the Costa Brava. Hundreds of players know already the place where they will sleep while play the MICBasketball. The youth basketball tournament play all along the whole Costa Brava, but the teams are placed in Lloret de Mar, a town always willing to host a competition like this. Pierre Oriola (MICBasketball'18 ambassador) shined this weekend on the Spanish Cup as FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in a unforgettable final (93-94). This is the second Copa in a row for Oriola, who has played the last three finals of the KO competition (loosing in 2017 with Valencia). Oriola showcased his full array of talents in this encounter, specially in defense, where he was determinant. He contributed to Barça's win with 7 points and 2 rebounds. Despite being an embryonic tournament, MICBasketball has already different young players who are achieving their professional goals. Or, at least, they have been successful with their clubs or national teams. In this post we’ll take a look at some of them: Stevan Karapandzic and Dusan Tanaskovic: they won the MICBasketball 2018 with KK Partizan (Stevan being also the U18M MVP) and this summer finished 10th in the U17 World Cup with Serbia. MICBasketball is a basketball tournament that has been held for two years at Easter on the Costa Brava with the aim of bringing together the best teams in the world. And in its second edition (this 2018) has had the presence of several teams from the Northeast of Europe that have made a great impression in the tournament. DME Sports Academy was one of the best teams in the last MICBasketball. Not only because they got the silver medal in U18W and U16W categories, but also as they showed an impressive basketball level. U18W, U16M, U15M. Three categories, three titles. Three amazing championships. Unicaja Baloncesto showed in the second edition of MICBasketball all its potential as a team, beating DME Sports Academy, Scios Celtics and Khimki in the finals. The Andalusians are not only one of the best clubs at Spanish level, but they also showed their level of competitiveness against American and Russian teams. Against DME Sports Academy (U18W) they won 64-48 basing their game on defense. One of the best finals of the MICBasketball'18 was played on Sunday at Fontajau (U16M).
